Shah Rukh Khan game for RA.One sequel

Shah Rukh Khan is overjoyed that his ‘baby’, RA.One, has bagged a National Award for special effects. Even before the movie released last Diwali, speculation about a sequel was rife and SRK in an earlier interview didn’t deny that he’d like to take the idea forward, even though not many critics thought the film should have been made the way it was.
“I’ve invested a lot of time into making this film and have created a technology over nine years. I think it needs to be exploited a little more,” he reasoned.
The next film, the star-producer pointed out, would however not be called RA.Two as the buzz went, but G.One because the formality of introducing a superhero genre is over and done with. Now, if RA.One were to move ahead, it would be with G.One, Shah Rukh’s own character, as kids all over the country have been making him sign autographs as G.One since the film released last Diwali.
Insisted Shah Rukh, “If Anubhav (Anubhav Sinha, writer-director of RA.One), anyone else in the company (Red Chillies Entertainment) or even someone from outside comes up with a story idea that can take the thought beyond, I’m game for it. My friends may also send me some scripts.”
Don 2 took six years to come along, will G.One arrive sooner? Shah argued that Don was never envisaged as a franchise and even Hrithik’s superhero sequel, currently being shot, flagged off six years after Krrish (2006).
“If I had a script today, which I don’t, it would take me at least 15 months to redraft it and finalise the cast and crew. A film like this requires a year-and-a-half of pre-production, so it’s impossible for me to give you a time frame. I’m unsure if it’ll even get made or if I’ll use the technology in some other genre,” said Shah Rukh, admitting that despite the fact that he has nothing now, he would still like to make a sequel since he hasn’t explored everything in the genre. “I know it is going to be expensive, but perhaps the next film would be cheaper since I now have the technology. Bigger and better too, I hope. But I have to have a story idea first.”
